They don't post anything this early.  Wait until after all the tryout weekends are completed. If I recall, the schedule didn't come out last year until July I think... not positive though.

Word on the streets is that there will be no more CAHA weekends. Wanted to see if this is a real thing.

I was just about to post this same video! :)   Yet again, SoCal teams having to go up north 4 times is a joke.  It should be split in my opinion but that's just my opinion.

In the video, he mentions evaluations. I wonder what method of evaluation they'll use.

As it's been explained to me norcal teams will have the 4 weekends up north, socal teams will only have to go up north once.  The league plans for the socal team to play the 4 or 5 norcal teams in the 1 crossover weekend for that socal team.  I hope so cause i don't want to spend 15k again for AA hockey.

Still only 12 teams? Who determines how many north vs south? Assume Labor Day will be used for "Evaluations"?

Last I heard socal will play 3 in socal and 1 in norcal. Top 12 teams make caha season, based on September scaha points.

Praise be to those of us in socal that won't have to make 4-5 trips up there thos season. Though I've memorized the SJ route hotel to rink.

I'd be ok going to No. Cal. as long as we don't have to go to Oakland again. >:(

When do the Preseason Rankings come out? Who has the Team to beat this year? Who makes the Top 12? Where is everyone headed for Labor Day?

I was thinking the same thing...which teams are the top teams?  I'm thinking some teams may be returning some 07s from last year.  Then again, of those kids who went AAA?  I'd assume Wave 1, Saints, Gold Rush, return some kids.  Hard to tell right now...

I heard OCHC/Ice Dogs has a pretty strong core of 2008s that played 15OAAA last year but didn't make the 16UAAA Ducks team this year and are now playing 16UAA.

I know the Saint's lost both of their 2007 goalies to prep/high-school teams and the returning 2007s opted to play-up to 18UAA or elsewhere.  They have a a predominantly 2008 16UAA team this year and won't be very strong.

I know the Empire 16UAA recruited very heavily and have a pretty strong core of players pulled in from various programs.  It will be a very interesting season!  Can't wait.

Ok, that makes sense.  OCHC 14AA had a good team too, the one that won CAHA.  It will be a very interesting season.

They have a 18 AAA team and trying to do an 18AA as well. They’ll still have a 16AA.  It’s all been out there- hasn’t been quiet.

I heard Pats 16AA (07) lost most of their core players which made it a bit difficult to build a team. Anyone know much about that?

Heard that as well but also about other clubs too.  I know Flyers 16AA folded, and 16AA Heat were needing bodies too.  I know many kids left the state, maybe some playing AAA....numbers dwindled.  :-\

I hadn't heard about Flyers 16AA folding. Any word on why? Seemed like they had a birth year AA team for each year so surprised they couldn't/wouldn't field one along with the 16AAA.

For the Flyers AAA, I believe most of that team left to go to other clubs. I heard tryouts were soft with not a lot of kids showing up so not sure how many signed.  The 16AA wasn’t strong last year which is why they didn’t make it past preseason/playin so not surprised if they can’t field a team this season. Rumor was they were going to maybe combine the 18AA with 16AA to make an 18AA but I don’t think they were even able to do that. Again, grain of salt as I’m not positive. I hope I’m wrong and they were able to put teams together.

I know a lot of 07s and 08s from Flyers went to the Bears...not sure why but I do know that is the case.  Flyers did have an 08 birth year team last year, but I believe several of them are on the bears 08 AAA team.  Not sure what happened with the rest of the kids.

Any word on how the larger clubs’ 16AA teams are looking?  I know LAK has one, Ducks have two, and Sharks have one?

Larger clubs in California are currently jumping the shark.  Tried to buy all the rinks and consolidate thinking everyone will want to be Ducks, Sharks and Kings.  Then once in the system parents are realizing they do a terrible job developing and see that they need to stick to their bread and butter which was recruiting all the good talent and consolidating them onto their top teams.

It's all a joke.  CA lost all teams not 18U for T1.  Only the same big boys have a team...  Kim and his Ducks sucked the life out of SoCal.  All the 18s are regretting AAA and declined bc there's not enough players.  It was a MONEY GRAB by CAHA to keep 18s local, but the failed as always.

Empire walloped Ducks1(?) 9-1 and it wasn’t even that close, they could have put 20 on them. So there’s that

Empire looks like team to beat. Solid
Goaltending, well coached and depth.

Im119-

Were you at the Empire vs Ducks 1 Scrimmage? It doesn't  sound like you were. I did attend since my son played in the game before and it was not exactly as you described.
The score was 2 to 1 Empire leading going into the 3rd period. The Ducks made a goalie change then things went south and the kids gave up. I believe your comment about putting 20 on them was very inaccurate. I was also told that it was Empire's 14th scrimmage and the Ducks first. Just putting that out there.

On another note, Jr. Kings beat the Pats 9 to 2 last week and Empire lost to the Bears 5 to 2 the week before. Not sure if you can really figure out front runners yet.
Goldrush lost all 17 of their 07 players that should have been returning and are still trying to pick up the pieces and meet roster requirements so I have heard.

I was at the Empire/Ducks game... here are a few corrections:

The score was 4-1 going into the 3rd period (note: the Ducks scored with 30-seconds left in the 2nd).  I agree that putting 20 on them is a major stretch.  There were two crossbars/posts by Empire and six or so one-on-zero break-aways that the Empire didn't score on.  By that same token there were two one-on-zero breakaways the Ducks could have easily scored on, but didn't.

Also this was the Empire's 4th scrimmage (including in-house scrimmages vs. Empire 18UAA and Empire 14UAA).  The only other scrimmage was against the Bears 16UAAA which they did, in fact, lose 2-5.  That's the 16UAAA Bears, not AA.

But I agree... its WAY too early to be talking about front-runners.  The Kings always put together solid teams, the Wave are perennial contenders, OCHC has an 08 core that won States last year, and GSE is always at the forefront.  It's going to be an exciting season.  Can't wait for it to officially begin!

 Just in...

4 teams have been officially notified that they have been selected by the SCAHA board to continue to compete in CAHA and be nationally bound for the remainder of the season.
Teams are Empire, Ducks 1, OC 2 and Wave 1.

Anyone have any thoughts on the picks?

Have any teams been told officially they will not continue for the remainder of the season?

I agree with those teams.  The Empire, Ducks(1), and OCHC(2) are pretty good teams.  I haven't seen the Wave(1) play yet, but they look pretty good on paper.  The one team I don't get is the Jr. Kings.  They've only played 2 SCAHA games thus far and only 3 ranked games total.  They looked pretty good on ice, but there isn't enough data to properly rank them.

I saw the Kings scrimmage the Pats.  Big and fast.  Had a few very good players in Wave and Heat equipment that were AAA potential.  1 parent said they were mostly 08s. They will be up there with those 4 teams IMHO.

Just saw the schedule for the 1st 16U AA weekend in Vacaville for November. Does this mean all the other teams not listed are out? Still confused on how this year is playing out. Teams currently on the schedule (looks like 4 Socal and 4 NorCal teams):

OC 2
Eagles 2
Ducks 1
Eagles 1
Wave 1
Jr Sharks
Empire
Blackhawks

No.  Those are the theoretical top teams early on.  Top 5 teams in each SCAHA conference advance.  The other teams are traveling to Nor Cal in December.
