I hope it happens. There are only 3 teams at Bantam Minor this year.

Well in the past when GSE has had a AAA team the Jr. Sharks have no had one in that same age group. So it doesn't necessary meant that there will be 2 NorCal 14AAA teams next year. I hope there is though.

are there enough good 04s to sustain two AAA teams in norcal?  its safe to assume gse will allow 05s to play up (they have two good ones on 12aa south...

I like the notion of it but I don't believe there's enough depth at that age group to field two viable teams that can compete with the socal teams.  Even he socal teams struggle to field two highly competitive teams with depth at that age group.  I believe that's why the Gulls lost their 2004 AAA tean

Worst case scenario is two diluted teams.  Likely scenario is sharks or GSE drops to AA before the season starts

Last time GSE had a AAA team was last year at 15AAA. They went 1-10 in CAHA. Last place. They better hope the '04 group is better than who they had at '01.

How is that positive. The Sharks AAA U14  TEAM this year isn't exactly  tearing it up.
Could it be that it' possible an "earmarked" decision ?
That seems to happen frequently in CAHA.

Hmmm yes where have we heard that name? Is there a relative on the board? Hmmm

Hey maybe CAHA can make the AAA teams play all their regular season games in Vacaville while they're at it.  Anything to put more $$$ in board members' pockets!

Oh... a AAA "jamboree" weekend is guaranteed.

Do you mean the 13AAA team (Will conceivably become the 14 AAA team next year)? Perhaps it doesn't matter which San Jose team you're talking about because none of them are exactly " tearing it up" Lol.

In all seriousness, below are the current rankings of all their AAA teams:

18aaa 148 of 151
16aaa 99 of 163
15aaa 21 of 114
14aaa 32 of 111
13aaa 57 of 104
12aaa 54 of 103
11aaa 67 of 90

I'd say they have two decent teams, two average teams, and three bad teams.  Probably could use, and opens them up for a little competition in Northern California. As mentioned in this thread already however, hard to imagine there are enough kids up there to pull off a second AAA team at any of the age groups.

There probably is enough talent,  as long as they stay in Nor Cal.  Kids keep bailing to So Cal or beyond.

Can someone explain how GSE knows they have a AAA club before CAHA has even announced their AAA teams for next season?

Umm Laura feel free to chime in here.

Usually in NorCal it's because a group of parents get together and decide that they are not getting enough from one club and go to another club en masse. At least that has happened a few times before.

Per GSE's website CAHA Board approved it.

Also there are deadlines to applying. Once must put together a roster that they see possible and Caha evaluates if they would be a competitive team. It does NOT mean they have chosen a team or if those players have decided to join that team.

Interesting how these things are picked. If your not in the big 3 clubs or sit on the CAHA board good luck.

I see Titans lost both their 16 AAA and 18AAA even though their 18's were better then Sharkss 18's.

sorry but this is why kids need to leave CA.

Nice work CAHA

I see 2 teams from Nor Cal in 14 AAA - GSE & Jr. Sharks. It will be interesting to see if both end up having a team and how competitive they will be.

Yeah should've taken that USNTDP offer after all.

Did anyone even notice the GSE kids out there at CAHA selects this weekend?  They had one good "D" man and the rest is average at best. They had a one solid "D" man and the rest are average at best.

You can see from this weekend that the AA or lower players are trying to dangle which doesn't work on AAA level.   Something to be said that the game itself is a teacher.......

You must have been at a different camp from me.  Most of the heads-down dangling I saw was by the 04 AAA “pedigrees,” who tended to play more like PeeWees than the AAs do.  I saw plenty of AAs laying AAA
pedigrees flat on their arses — more than the other way around.  One shortcoming of the AAA birth year system is that the bantam minors spend so much of the year playing against kids their own age, who aren’t used to checking and often don’t even like to be touched, while the AAs spent this year playing mostly against bigger, stronger, older players and often transitioning to the bantam game faster as a result.

Regarding GSE, I don’t have a dog in the fight, but most of their players looked pretty solid to me. It won’t surprise me at all if they turn out to be the #2 bantam major AAA team in California next year. I’ll bet you my rose colored glasses for yours. (The existing 04 AAA teams seem to have trouble beating local AA teams like GSE.)

An event where most of the players were trying to show off their individual talents, and not playing team hockey, is probably not a great vehicle to compare AA to AAA.

Strawman,

The CAHA list is out and the 1 "D" man is the lonely GSE selected.   I guess my glasses must be 20/20 and yours is shielded by the roses.  The 20+ evaluators have seen similar to what I see.    I don't have any grudge as I was simply making an observation.

Lets have a beer or margarita at Lakewood next time. :)

How many of those evaluators are from the Kings or Ducks? Probably all of them except Curtis Brown from Sharks. Humm..
You are kidding yourself if you think the field is level for all players. Plus you had kids that didn't show up and were selected.

Brown was not evaluating the 04's. There are specific people tasked with evaluating each level, and I believe none of them are coaches of that level.
