Title: New Hockey Novel for Kids
Post by: Ice-o-Matic on February 02, 2018, 11:13:57 AM
Hi, just thought I’d mention that there’s an excerpt on the Boys’ Life magazine website of a new hockey novel for kids.  The story is based in California (mentions Glendale and Burbank in the excerpt), and the excerpt is clearly based on Tian, for anyone whose kid has ever done stick time with him at Pickwick.  The main character is a peewee AA trying to make AAA next season.
Amazon says it’s an Atheneum book – Atheneum is part of Simon & Schuster, so to my knowledge it’s the only hockey novel for kids from a major publisher, though there may be some I haven’t heard of.

Yup local author whose son plays tier hockey in SoCal.  Her previous books have won the Newbury Medal and just in 2013 she had a novel that won the National book award.

Here's the book on Amazon btw:  https://www.amazon.com/Checked-Cynthia-Kadohata/dp/1481446614/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1517946436&sr=8-5&keywords=cynthia+kadohata

My 2005 read the book in about 4 days and wants to know if there's a sequel.  Stamp of approval.
