Looks like the PeeWee A team's that dropped weren't even ready for PeeWee BB! OCHC should of dropped from A.

There's a few teams at A that should have dropped.  Not sure why SCAHA doesn't step in.

SCAHA & CAHA really need to clean up divisions...  The quality of talent is very watered down...  PWA is starting to look like in-house & PWAA is the new PWA...

I would say that in addition, the parents need stop chasing the A's and buying into what clubs are selling.

Definitely agree that something needs to be done to help determine how to correctly place these teams. The amount of teams in incorrect divisions this season is ridiculous and doing nothing for the kids. Yes there will always be games in which a team may win or lose by alot but some of these teams are winning/losing by a large margin consistently. Unfortunately until SCAHA figures this out and also makes the clubs accountable for placing the teams in correct divisions nothing will change. Parents should want their kids playing at a competitive level and hold their clubs/coaches accountable for placing them in the correct division.

How about a kind of capitalist solution with regulatory penalties.  If any team at A level and below loses by 5 or more goals, they club is penalized $1,000 per incident and the winning team gets $200 of it for a pizza party.   Undoubtedly a bad idea but it might work.

What if we did it like European soccer and start regulating teams.  If you come in last you can't have a team in that division for a whole season.

I just looked at the regular season scores in BB.  They look pretty typical.   16 teams in division - bottom 4 should have dropped, 11 look like they will be jockeying for the 8 playoff spots - top 4 look strong.

This looks like a typical A/B spread - for the past 15 years.

Pretty much agree.  If I had to pick playoffs today, it'd go something like this (in no particular order)

SDIA
Gulls
Empire
Gold Rush
Saints 1
Saints 2
Heat
Hawks

I see the last 2 spots up for grabs tho...

Their goalie went down again.  Again, her own team crashed into her!

There was 3:30 left in the 2nd period when the Saints goalie went down.  They do not have a back up goalie.  The score was 5-0 at this point.  The refs and Saints coach (the one that didn't get kicked out of the game)  decided to go without a goalie.  At the end of the 2nd period it was 8-0 empire.  When the 3rd period started and the goalie didn't come out, empire head coach offered his second goalie.  Empire played against their own goalie and he only allowed 1 goal.

Empire looked sloppy against the Heat, but pulled off the win. Some bad penalty calls during the game but nothing crazy.  The linesman stopped my son after an offsides and told him if he would of dragged his foot he would of been inside. That's nice, but my son is the one with the puck!!!

Looking for some advice, I need to get a release from a team, not to go into too much detail, but the coaching is not working out. I paid in full for the season. Will I get a prorated amount back from the club? Anyone go thru this experience before?
Title: Re: PeeWee BB?
Post by: Hackey11 on November 19, 2019, 07:09:40 AM
No, I've never had this happen.  I would imagine it all depends on the club management.  Do you have a good relationship with them?  If so, maybe.

It does depend on the club contract that you signed.  I've known several people who have asked for a release from the club.  I don't know of anybody (off the the top of my head) who has been denied.  Usually they will release, but I know that most clubs are no refunds, so that might be a problem.  If the situation is contentious, I'd highly doubt you'd get your $$ back, let alone a release.

I know people that have been in a similar situation and there are a couple things that can make a difference.  If you are asking for a full release to possibly go play with another club getting any $$$ back is more then likely not going to happen.  However if you are asking for a release to stay within the same club and play down a level usually the club will allow and the $$ will not be an issue.

Stayfrosty, it depends on the club and your reasons for leaving and, well, you and your attitude.  Most clubs will give you the release with no problem.  However, depending on the club, they'll usually keep your money based on the contract you signed.  If you go to another team within the club, it's very rarely a problem and money just transfers over.  If club accepts your reasoning for asking for full release, they may prorate and give you refund.  That's very rare, but if it's a coaching problem, they may give it to you.  Most times though, you're on the hook for the full season with the original club and then can hope for discount  at the new club.  The reason I included it depends on you and your attitude is I've seen people with legitimate gripes get denied refunds or full releases because they were the problem parents.  If you're "that guy," you may get screwed.  Good luck to you.

I think you're right for the most part.  I do think the Moose have gotten better with the addition of one of their injured players.  He's scored 5 goals in the last two games.  Should be a close game.  Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

I've heard from a number of folks that SP is a good skills coach.  Another guy you might try is Justin Blaszak who you can try reaching through his facebook page or through website:  https://www.productofcahockey.com/  He has done D clinics in the summer and works out of several rinks in the valley.  https://www.facebook.com/PCHApparel/

I can also recommend Brian Cooke, who played D for the Kings org AHL and coaches the Burbank Cougars currently. He works out of Lakewood and Artesia these days.  https://www.facebook.com/cookeelitehockey/

That other chat on the PWAAA board is pretty interesting....anywho, us BB folks have our own playoffs to worry about lol.  Interesting week last week!  I got a few wrong, gonna be an interesting end to this season.

This week's picks:

Moose -3 vs Bears

Hawks -5 vs Flyers

SDIA -4 vs OCHC

Empire -5 vs Mariners

Wave -3 vs Kings

Saints(1)-4 vs Ice Dogs

Heat-2 vs Saints(2)

Playoffs pretty much set except for the 8th seed (the seeding within may change, but the teams probably won't.  My magic 8 ball says the Wave prob get the last seed, but they play OCHC later this month, which will decide who's in imho. Moose will narrowly miss out ....we'll see)

1. GR.
2. Empire
3.  Gulls
4.  Heat
5.  SDIA
6.  Ice Hawks
7. Saints(2)
8.  Wave

Well, looks like the Saints 2 are gonna squeak in:

1.  Empire
2. GR
3.  Gulls
4.  Oilers
5.  Heat
6.  Hawks
7. OCHC
8.  Saints 2

I see the wave losing to gulls this week, and saints beating the flyers.

I'll sort out seeding after

Looks like Flyers beat Saints, well done.  Wave take the last spot

Bracket #1 (Group of death)
1. Empire
4.Heat
5. SDIA
8. Wave

Very tough bracket to call.  Several ties between/among the group.  But if I had to pick, based on my observations, I'm going with:

Advancing to Semi-Final
1.  EHC
2.  SDIA

(Yes, Heat tied SDIA, but it appeared SDIA had more depth imho)

Bracket #2

2. GR
3. Gulls
6. Hawks
7. OCHC

Advancing to Semi-Finals
1.  GR
2. Gulls

Only upset I can forsee is Hawks tripping up the Gulls, because they lost a close one to them and they tied GR

Just my 2 cents, feel free to disagree
