Shooting coach
« on: September 16, 2017, 12:18:35 AM »
I am looking for a coach that specializes in shooting for my son in Southern California. Who are some of the shooting coaches that you recommend? Thanks

Just noticed this, too bad that nobody replied.

One name pops in my mind right away, his name is Garrett Kunisaki. He is one of the owners of Base Sticks. We just purchased a Base stick for my kid, and his specialty is shooting. He does a whole hour of video analysis of how a kid is shooting, identifying bad habits, how to improve it, etc. I was very impressed with the way he works. No coach ever pointed out things that he did, about my son's shooting habits. So, the first session guarantees an instant improvement.

Look him up on facebook, send him a message. He gives shooting lessons to some of the top AAA players, here in So. Cal.
Certainly not cheap, but you only need a few sessions, to get some good advice, and then practice with your team, or at home.
If you want cheap(er), any good hockey coach will do. Nothing wrong with them, there are many great coaches out there.

They're in El Segundo. I personally don't have any experience with them, but have spoken to a few kids who have done a few sessions at their facility and thought it was helpful. It's an indoor synthetic ice setup with a bunch of shooting lanes.

Just to be more clear, dustydad is right, in that the video analysis is done in an indoor facility (Torrence, actually). But the shooting lessons he gives, are in the ice-rinks around town, on real ice. He mentioned KHS (not my fave rink), if I remember correctly, but there are others as well.
