MARINERS SELECTS ACADEMY

What is in a letter?
Remember the Yellow Pages? If you needed your car repaired, you would look up under “Auto repairs” for a shop to fix your car. Usually, the first listed was something like A1 Auto or AAA Auto. Did that mean they were the best?

As an economist at Duke University shows in a recent study, low-quality plumbers try to seduce the clueless, desperate customer by having a business name that begins with an A or a number—thus getting listed first in the yellow pages—and/or by paying for a prominent advertisement. Using data on plumbers in Illinois, the economist found that “those with names that begin with an A or a number receive more than five times as many complaints with the Better Business Bureau, on average, and more than three times as many complaints per employee,” which “is not simply a result of differences in business volume or customer composition.”

So, what does that have to do with hockey? Everything.

If you wouldn’t choose your car repair shop or plumber based upon a letter or letters, why would you use it to choose your hockey program?

You should choose your program based upon the team’s philosophy, coaching, practice and development, exposure and ROI on the hockey investment dollar.

We believe letters don’t make the team or the man. Our philosophy and program are centered and focused on development.

We do the same as AA and AAA teams, but much, much more.
We have:
• Superior coaching
• More on ice practices
• Inclusive of a summer development program (on ice and off ice training)
• More hockey focused, off ice, professional fitness sessions
• Costs that are less than not only AAA and Prep school programs but, in many cases, less than high quality AA programs
• We will compete within California as required by CAHA. These will be developmental as we expect to dominate.
• To gain exposure, our team will also compete in:

Our own designed AAA showcases in the western region with AAA teams and Prep Schools. Full Scouting presence from Junior teams.
Four (4) NAPHL regional events competing in the open division, where competition is high, and scouting is abundant

Is this an AA or AAA team? We don’t know, and we don’t care. This is the Mariners Selects Academy.
