Head Coach : Shane Sooth (sooth40@sbcglobal.net)

Shane is from Canyon Country, growing playing youth in California. He moved away as 14 years old to play for Salisbury Prep School in Connecticut. The next year he made the National Junior Development Team (NTDP) which is a two year program. After NTDP he went to play for Dubuque Fighting Saints in the United States Hockey League (USHL) for the next three years. Shane is two times Clark Cup Champion. Served as captain of the team while succeeding in their second championship run. Following Dubuque he played for Northern Michigan University which he was also named Captain during Junior and Senior year. In his time at Northern Michigan University he was pursuing a degree in Physical Education and Coaching with minor in Health. Once he finished his collegiate career he signed a professional contract in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) with Quad City Mallards. Throughout his career as a hockey player he had the opportunity to play alongside guys such as: Johnny Gaudreau, Justin Faulk, Brandon Saad, Jason Zucker, Matt Nieto, etc..

Last year he started his coaching career by being assistant coach with Josh Berge of the Valencia Flyers junior team. Also, he has learned from some great coaches who have prepared him for coaching. To name few Jim Montgomery coached Shane all three years in Dubuque who went on to win a National Championship with Denver University and was recently hired as the head coach of the Dallas Stars. Walt Kyle who was Shane’s coach all four years at Northern Michigan University where he was head coach for 14 years and before that was assistant coach for the Anaheim Ducks and New York Rangers.

I look forward to teaching and helping players reach their full potential as hockey players. In addition to teaching them hockey I will emphasis leadership skills that can be utilized on and off the ice. -Shane Sooth
