We are happy to announce that we will be opening the academy for 2019/20 school year!


AGE GROUP
For the upcoming season we will have 4 age groups filed with players 2007-2010 birth year

OUR PRINCIPLES
  • Development is the most important part at this age. It's the time when quality of development matters the most, our goal is to provide the highest quality possible.
  • Professional coaches, non-parent head coaches.
  • No private clinics inside the organization.
  • Coaches are not allowed to run extra clinics with the Academy's students.
HEAD COACH OF THE PROGRAM

Cody Staves
Cody spent last season coaching at Vermont Hockey Academy (Division I hockey prep school) as Head Coach of hockey program, and Division I scout

CULTURE
  • Every Player in the Academy is treated as an individual with respect and integrity, with the idea that each player needs to work on different aspects of their game to reach their fullest potential.
  • Coaches will take pride in providing the tools, and be available, in return players will practice with a purpose and dedicate themselves to reach their highest career goals.
  • Individual development approach to each player.
  • Players will train everyday to outwork, and outsmart their opponents. Players will consistently develop skills that will open the game up for them.
 
SELECTION PROCESS
New Players will be offered to participate in selection clinics. Returning players will have priority registration for the next year.

ROSTER SIZE
Roster will be limited to 15 players and 2 goalies per age group.


AMOUNT OF TEAMS PER AGE GROUP
We will have only one team per age group to make sure we can provide high quality development to our players.

SEASON
Season will run from mid August to mid June.

SCHOOL
Education is very important for everyone, and elite athletes are not an exception. Based in South Bay, Los Angeles, CA brick-and-mortar school, will provide your child with everything necessary to achieve their educational goals. We do not expect to miss a lot of school days as our schedule will be aligned with the school schedule.

HOMEWORK
Kids will be given time to finish homework at school, supervision will be provided. Enjoy your evenings homework free!

SCHEDULE EXAMPLE
- Drop off time at 8:00am
- School starts at 8:15am
- Practice on ice 9:45am - 11:15am (Transportation to the rink and back will be provided)
- Lunch break 11:45am - 12:30pm
- School time 12:30pm - 5:00pm
- Dry land at school 5:00pm-6:00pm
- Pick up time 6:00pm


TRAVEL
We will stay local as much as possible, but we are still expecting to travel out of state 2 times during 10 month season to participate in the most competitive events. We will align our travel plans with the school.


GAMES
We're planning to have 30+ games/scrimmages during 10 month season.

ON ICE
300+ hours of ice during 10 month season
  • 90 mins of ice per school day for the development.
  • Games will be in the weekday evenings and/or on weekends.
  • Combine testing to track skating (speed forwards, backwards, endurance), shooting MPH (wrist, slap, snap shots)
OFF-ICE
200+ hours of dry land, will include:
  • Hockey skills development.
  • Non hockey development (basketball, soccer and etc).
  • Stretching.
  • Combine testing to track physical development prepare players for USHL combine.
  • General athletic development


HOCKEY THEORY
  • Video review.
  • Analytics.
  • Nutrition.
