High School and Club/Travel

What are the pros and cons of playing both Midget AA and Varsity High School? (Other than the obscene costs that we are well aware of!) Any experiences positive or negative to share? It will be the same coach if that makes a difference.

Well, I can already see that tournaments will conflict so a definite con is missing games with one of the teams.

One always takes priority over the other.  You will need to decide which one is which before you commit and make sure the coaches understand.  You will definitely miss some games from one or the other. We use High School for practice as a good AA player will have plenty of time and space in a High School game.

It also depends on which HS team you are considering.  Some of the top D1/D2 programs are run like high level club teams with travel tournaments outside ADHSHL and can play 40-50 games on their own between tournaments, ADHSL and CAHA playoffs, Nationals, etc.  Top varsity HS teams like SM, JSerra, Capo, to name a few, certainly practice and play at a higher level than 16AA (age) and equal to or better than most 18AA.
