Valencia closing?
« on: March 25, 2020, 03:50:13 PM »
Just got word Valencia is closing down for good? Wondering where all their kids go, what happens to the flyers. They seemed to have a good program...

Last years core players from  PW AA Bantam AA and Midget AA will go on as a group.

Either in Valencia or somewhere close by.

I'm only unsure of the fate of the 08's and 09's that played PW last year.

the owner is willing to sell the rink for around $15 million. not a bad price (in the pre-social distancing world) if you think about it. throw in a couple additional mil for necessary maintenance. way cheaper than buying land and building from scratch. any takers?

Didn't realize it was that much...that's not happening IMHO.  Hope those teams can stay together and find ice time somewhere.

Apparently the land value is why the rink is so expensive.

The Kings Reseda rink was going to cost 26 million to build:

Santa Barbara Ice in Paradise cost 15 million to build:

Anyone know how much it cost the Gold Rush to get their single sheet going?

That sheet of ice was there years before Goldrush showed up.  Regardless, I do not know the answer, just useless facts for the sake of conversation.

its a 92,000 sqft building on over 4 acres. the price is pretty reasonable. no one could ever build a similar facility like this at that cost. reno is starting to build a one-sheet facility of only 38,000 sqft for $9.5 mil.
