Hockey Shot Tracker
« on: October 03, 2022, 03:25:31 PM »

My son was an aspiring '98 goalie playing in SOCAL. He was at that teetering point in his later years to be able to go on and play somewhere else. He would get a look here and there and a call once in a while along with some invites. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times - I wouldn't trade it for the world.

What I WOULD have traded for the world was sitting at a rink and watching a scorekeeper on their phone and not paying attention only to look over when an occassional goal went in and recording the goal, and not the other 4 or 5 saves. Knowing the game sheet would be posted later for scouts to look at chapped my rear. Did it really make any difference at all in this game of life, probably not. Personally, I grew a lot in keeping my temper in check but it sure mattered to us at the time. I could have eaten nails many a weekends.

I wanted an app so while I was watching him play, I could keep track him. What a simple idea? There were borderline counters out there, but how could there not be just a tracking app.

Now there is and it does a lot more. Inspired, truly from, this story, my LLC released "Hockey Shot Tracker" on Google Play Store today. The app does a tremendous amount of stat keeping, including across teams, goalies, skaters, seasons. It will let you review a game, see or play back a shot map, or even view heat maps. You can also look at games combined.

We designed and wrote this for past me. Our early feedback has been very positive.

I hope it fills the gap for someone (parent, coach, goalie, scout) today that I had several years ago. :)

Good luck out there!
